To friends of Dr. Bingzhang Wang

Wang Mei

Dear Friends of Dr. Bingzhang Wang,

On August 6, Daidai and Qingyan Wang visited their father, Dr. Bingzhang Wang, in Shaoguan, Guangdong. Daidai and Qingyan barely recognized the father they had not seen for 10 months. A very thin and pale Dr. Wang moved towards them in slow, uneven steps, holding on to the wall to steady himself.

Separated by a thick glass partition and connected only by a telephone, Daidai and Qingyan spoke through tears to their father for about 40 minutes. Daidai and Qingyan were most concerned for their father's failing health. Dr. Wang said he feels a temperature difference between his left and right limbs, perhaps as a result of uneven blood flow to the limbs from phlebitis, a condition that must be treated immediately to prevent another stroke.

On July 2, Dr. Wang's parents filed a medical parole appeal to Mr. Fu Seng Zhang of the PRC Department of Justice (please see attachment). Now we need your urgent follow-up with the Chinese government to help secure his medical parole.

Thank you for your continued support of Dr. Wang and monitoring of his health.

Sincerely yours,

Mei Wang
